RCIA
In the past people wanting to become Catholic were required to participate in a program of private instruction with the priest, consisting a number of weekly lessons on Catholic doctrine. After the instructions were completed, the 'convert' was baptized (if necessary) and confirmed.
This changed after the Second Vatican Council in the 1960's. The process now for those wishing to come into the Catholic Church is to join a group of other enquirers on their journey. This is called the Rite of Christian Initation of Adults, or R.C.I.A.
It is a journey of faith tailored to the needs of the individual. Candidates meet regularly with a group of other enquirers and others from the parish to learn about the catholic belief and practice.
Do you want to become a catholic or want to know more about what catholics believe? If you are interested in finding out more contact Colleen Shaw at the Parish Office 9484 1427, the Parish Careline 9875 3990 or Jacqui Crane 9869 8276.
